I started rapping because I could no longer follow my first passion, soccer. I was going to go pro in the German Bundesliga when I was 17 but my parents made me go to college. I was rapping for fun there and one day my sophomore year, I got a call from DJ Whoo Kid inviting me to work with Shadyville. I was already playing frat shows around campus but he helped my book my first college tour around the northeast. After that, I switched my class schedule around and the rest is history.
So you just released your debut album, how does it feel to reach this importantly milestone as an artist?
Absolutely incredible, it’s taken a long time and hard work to get to this point. I’m really most excited about the opportunities ahead and being able rob work with more established artists now.
Which songs from your new album are your favorite?
I cut 25 songs for this project so these were basically my 9 favorites. Hmm of them, I guess s100 Grand was the most fun to make and I feel like the energy is just captured in the song. I also love make it happen and hold it down because I feel although topic wise they’re on 2 opposites sides of the spectrum, there’s raw truth behind the words.
“Anything Goes” seems to be getting some serious attention. What was it like to work with Mike Stud?
I met Mike couple years ago when I was still in college. We kept in touch and started touring together nationally. So that’s the homie and someone I turn up a lot with so it just made sense to have him on the project. College kids def love that one though for sure.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, The Fugees, The Temptations, I could go forever haha. Grew up on the classics and Motown, my dads Jamaican so a bunch of reggae, and my moms Germany so the whole German disco EDM scene they had going on over there lol idk what to call it.
With summer coming to an end and the release of your new album, what can fans expect from you the rest of the year?
I’m actually 3/4 done with my next project ‘Casablanca’ so hopefully that’ll be out Fall ’16 but if not then top of the year for sure. Dope features on it too but I can’t say yet.
