Young Bombs Interview

Young Bombs are picking up some serious traction with their music. With remixes for Nick Jonas, Fifth Harmony and Troye Silvan, they’ve been thrust into the spotlight. Releasing music nonstop, Young Bombs are destined for the top. I had a chance to ask them a few questions, here’s what they had to say.

For people that don’t know your music, how would you describe it?
FIRE! haha nah just playing. Our music varies quite a bit tempo wise and somewhat stylistically you could say, but the main element we try to keep sonically cohesive is the emotion. We are always trying to create the most uplifting music we can, whether that be on the fun uplifting side of things like our War Paint remix for example, or on a more serious powerful ballad song like Ocean Eyes. We want the listener to feel something beneath the surface. Besides that, I guess you could explain it as EDM with a blend of indie and pop.

What artists in particular have inspired your sound?
We come from a band background. We both play instruments, so we draw inspiration from cliche favourite bands like The Beatles and Bowie and.. haha no for real tho, we really do love The Beatles, Dylan and everything to modern stuff like Bon Iver, Explosions In The Sky and Sigur Ros. In the electronic space tho we have been really inspired by Odesza recently as well as Illenium, Galantis,  Flume and our friends The Chainsmokers. Everything we listen to and like just sort of comes together into a melting pot and blends together to create something new!
You’ve been putting tracks out lightning fast, how have you been able to produce so many tracks so quickly?
The great thing about our partnership is we are both equal producers. So if one of us is having an off day the other will steer the ship. But for for the most part we are both hands on 24/7. Literally lol. We have been making music together in bands for years now so we know each other’s taste so well, we basically have the same mind musically at this point.

Of all your remixes, is there one in particular that stands out to you?
Probably our War Paint remix. It was really a turning point for us in the sense that we tried something new and our fans really accepted it and liked it. It’s always a bit scary stepping out and trying something you’ve never done, so we were glad it worked out!
For the future, are we looking at more remixes or will you start bursting into the original music scene?
We don’t want to say too much, but yes, we have been working on originals and they are coming SOON.

If you get any choice of a vocalist on a track, who do you choose? Why?
Hmm that’s a tough question. Probably Borat because I don’t think I could stop laughing. Seriously though, probably Rihanna. Her voice does things to me. Also Jonsi from Sigur Ros would be sick.
Where do you want to be in five years?
In five years, we’d love to be playing stadiums.
Anything else you’d like to say?
