If you’re in the need for a soulful voice infused with a fresh new sound, Daecolm is the guy for you. We featured his rework of ABBA’s Dancing Queen a couple weeks ago, and now we’ve gotten the chance to talk with him below.
For people who have never heard your music, how would you describe it?
It comes from Rnb, I love Rnb music and I use that as the foundation and then explore little bits of other genres to switch it up but I do love my Rnb.
Can you talk to me about your cover of ABBA’s Dancing Queen?
The cover was literally just thought, I never thought it would be more or so what it did online in terms of its vitality but I’m glad people loved it!
When you’re recording a song, what’s your mindset in the studio?
My mindset when in the studio is how to stay true to myself as a writer and an artist and literally be the most creative I can without being influenced by what is currently popular. Just great music always.
What is your favorite achievement from this year so far?
My personal achievement this year would have to be working with Mario, as a kid I grew up listening to him daily and now working with him is a bit surreal but at the same time super chill because he’s a cool guy and humble but extremely talented.
What’s in store for the rest of the year?
The plan for the rest of the year is to put out more music, in working on a body of work, whether that turns to EP or full album in not sure yet but I’m putting a project together for you guys and hope it’s felt!
Who’s your dream collaboration?
With any artist, I dunno I probably would more love to collab with a really dope artist producer, someone like Timbaland or Pharrell who have the mindset of gods in music to me.
If you’re trapped on a deserted island, what would you bring?
Dessert island.. would have to be a solar powered charging unit, my laptop, and some headphones.
