Ryan Riback Interview

Chances are, you’ve heard the infectious remix of Starley’s “Call on Me.” It was the song that really took Ryan Riback’s career off, and now he’s releasing his own music while still crushing the remix game. See what he had to say to us below!

For people who have never heard of your music, how would you describe it?
It’s a pop/dance style. I generally fit into this mid-tempo melodic pocket and always want to have amazing vocalists on the track.

Can you talk to me about making your single One Last Time?
Sure! One Last Time was written on a guitar about that last night before a relationship ends. I took the vocals and worked the track around it, using some chick’s vocals for a melodic hook. She then went in and re-sang her parts and the rest is history. 🙂

Of all of the remixes you’ve done, which one is your favorite? Why?
I’d have to say “Call on Me”. That song took off and really jumpstarted my career! 🙂

What has been the highlight of the year so far?
I’d say it’s a mix between releasing my first original song and hearing that “Call on Me” went platinum in the US. What an amazing accomplishment!

Of all of the venues you’ve played, which one stands out to you most? Why?
My gig at G+ Shanghai… amazing venue, amazing crowd, amazing lighting!

If you could collaborate with any vocalist, who would it be? Why?
Michael Jackson, he’s the king of pop! But that might be a bit tricky…

Would you rather have hands for feet or feet for hands? Why?
Hands for feet… would be able get more done 😉

What’s the plan for the rest of the year?
Keep releasing music, keep playing shows and keep having fun!

Anything else you’d like to say?
Thank you to all the people who’ve been listening to my music! I really appreciate all the love and support! 🙂
